My latest Addiction is Swoon! The Swoonblock by Camille Roskelly is beautiful, easy to sew and BIG. What I like about big Blocks is that you don't need many to make a huge Quilt. This one is planned to cover our King-Size Bed!

So three are finished and I really love the look of the grey Backgrounds!

I can't wait to show you more of these!!

Ich bin neuerdings nach Swoon süchtig! Der Swoon-Block von Camille Roskelly ist wunderschön, einfach zu nähen und GROSS. Ich mag große Blöcke, weil man nicht so viele braucht um einen großen Quilt zu nähen. Dieser soll die Tagesdecke für unser 2m x 2m Bett werden!

Die drei sind schon fertig und ich liebe die Wirkung auf dem grauen Hintergrund!

Ich kann es kaum erwarten euch mehr davon zu zeigen!!

Rainy Sunday Morning - Ein verregneter Sonntagmorgen

Yesterday evening it finally rained. After a long period of dryness and heat the Weather in Munich finally cooled down to 20 something degrees Celcius and I am able to breathe again.

What a perfect time to do some sewing.

Last night I finished Quilting the Big and Bold Quilt after getting the pieces together at one of our Munich Modern Quilters Meetings. I name it "Juicy Picknick Sampler"

And since the Sewing Machine was still on the dining-tabel, I decided to put together another Quilt I had started recently. It is a strip-pieced triangle quilt, which I would name "Marine Cones" for the Moda Jelly Roll I used has a Marine-Theme on it.

Well, and a few days ago I finished another Pre-Cut Quilt from a moda Layer Cake. 

I liked the little "Framed Quilt" so much, that I wanted to make a bigger Quilt from the same Pattern by Camille Roskelley. 

So after my sewing was done this morning, the sky cleared and I took the chance and took a quick picture of the two finished tops.

What can I say! I had a great morning, and I just LOVE getting things done. 

Now I got to go and look out for backings and decide on the quilting for the two tops. Any suggestions? Would love to get some inspiration!

Gestern Abend hat es endlich angefangen zu regnen. Nach einer langen Trockenperiode mit hohen Temperaturen hat das Wetter in München endlich auf 20°C abgekühlt.

Was für eine perfekte Gelegenheit um mal wieder zu nähen.

Am Vorabend habe ich meinen Big and Bold Quilt fertig gequiltet, nachdem ich ihn bei einem Treffen der Munich Modern Quilters endlich zusammengesetzt habe. Ich nenne ihn "Juicy Picknick Sampler" weil er so fruchtig saftig aussieht.

Und weil die Maschine noch so am Esstisch stand, hab ich die Gelegenheit beim Schopf gepackt und noch einen weiteren Quilt zusammengesetzt, den ich kürzlich angefangen habe. Es ist ein Streifen-Quilt den ich "Marine Cones" also Marine-Hüte nenne, da er aus einer moda Jelly Roll gemacht ist, die ein Marines Thema drauf hat.

Nun, vor einiger Zeit habe ich auch einen weiteren Quilt aus Pre-Cut Stoffen genäht. Einem Layer Cake von moda.

Ich mochte ja den Esel Quilt "Framed" von Camille Roskelley so gern, das ich ihn unbedingt noch einmal, größer nähen wollte.

Als ich dann ferig war mit meiner Nähsession, klarte es auf und ich nutzte die Gelegenheit und machte schnell ein paar Fotos von den zwei fertigen Tops.

Was soll ich sagen! Ich hatte einen tollen Vormittag. Ich liebe es wenn was fertig wird!

Und jetzt muss ich nach Rückseitenstoff für die beiden Tops suchen und mir den Kopf über das Quilting zerbrechen. Hat jemand einen Vorschlag dazu? Ich würde mich sehr über Inspirationen freuen!

So many WIP-Pieces

Hi out there!

Today is the last day before I go on a 2 Week Vacation to southern Tuscany. The Last day where I will actually be able to work on my Blog Post, and maybe-maybe get some sewing done later today (all depending on the kids' mood ;-) before we go on the long journey.

I really want to finish Quilting "Fresh" and put the binding on, so I can finish hand-Sewing the binding during my time in Tuscany. I'm dreaming of even finishing the Quilting of the Houndstoothquilt, but that will stay, just a dream!

Why do I even stress about it? Well, I want to finish a few projects, because on the Weekend of October 11-12, I get the chance to present my Quilts at Kultüren. Kultüren is a Connection of a few Artists and Designers who will present themselves during an exhibition in Munichs City District Neuhausen.

My Quilting-Group Munich Modern Quilters took the Chance to exhibit our Quilts at the Show! Our Quilts will be exhibited in the beautiful Stephanus-Church, where we hold our Meetings every month to sew together!

I'm very excited and happy to be a part of the show and since I'm the Rookie in the Group, I don't have that many Quilts to show of. That's why I DO stress myself a little!

So let me go and finish these up!

Hallo da draussen!

Heute ist der letzte Tag wo ich noch einen Post schreiben und ein bisschen nähen kann, bevor ich für 2 Wochen in die Toskana in den Urlaub fahre.

Ganz abhängig davon, wie meine Kinder am Nachmittag so drauf sind ;-), hoffe ich das ich heute meinen "Fresh" Quilt fertig quilten kann, damit ich noch vor dem Urlaub das Binding dran nähen kann, um es dann im Urlaub mit der Hand fertig zu stellen. Ich träume auch davon den Houndstooth Quilt fertig zu quilten. Aber das wird wohl ein Traum bleiben.

Warum stress ich mich plötzlich so? Naja, ich möchte einfach noch ein paar Projekte fertig kriegen, bevor ich vom 11.-12. Oktober bei den Neuhauser Kultüren ausstelle! Die Kultüren sind ein Event, bei dem die verschiedensten Künstler und Designer die Möglichkeit haben sich zu präsentieren!

Meine Quilt-Gruppe, die Munich Modern Quilters werden bei dieser Gelegenheit auch ausstellen! Und zwar in der wunderschönen Stephanus-Kirche wo wir auch regelmäßig unsere Nähtreffen abhalten!

Ich bin total aufgeregt und glücklich das ich da mitmachen kann und da ich der "Anfänger" unter uns bin, habe ich nicht so viele Quilts zum ausstellen hier. Also, JA ich stress mich ein bisschen!

So, jetzt muss ich auch mal weiter machen!

Framed Donkeys in Rainboots

Right now the weather is pretty shitty over here. After a very springy time suddenly it got cold, wet and at our house, right behind the forest, we even got a little bit of snow! How frustrating! I am so tired of the wet and cold weather! I can't even get myself to the sewing machine. Well, all those wet boots and mud keeps me busy with housholding, too.

Before the ugly weather came back, I managed to take some nice pics of my "Framed" Quilt. It is a Design by Camille Roskelley from her Book Simply Retro

I love how the Quilt turned out! Thank you again Sternwerfer for giving me that cute fabric bundle. There was more in the bundle and I will actually make another one in pink :-) 

So back to swiping floors :-P

This time I made a handwritten Label with a permanent fabric marker. I'll have labels printed soon though!
